The Venus de Milo is an ancient statue commonly believed to represent Aphrodite. It is currently housed at the Louvre in Paris. The statue was carved from marble by Alexandros, a sculptor from Antioch on the Maeander River, around 150 BCE. It was discovered in pieces in April 1820 on the Aegean island of Melos and was later presented to Louis XVIII, who donated it to the Louvre in 1821.
