Raise a tankard to your triumphs! Tankards were originally crafted in wood for use in taverns; today however, they are mainly regarded as collectors’ or novelty items. Tankards were used all over northern Europe especially in Germany and the British Isles. They were also used in colonial America from the mid sixteenth century to the end of eightieth century and their designs varied accordingly.
